When did you start blogging?
I first started this blog in January of 2015. I worked on it for a couple of months behind the scenes before making it public. I took some time to get all of my recipes and photos squared away and make sure everything was organized and formatted just right (plus it took some time to figure out code injections, CSS, and all that jazz haha). I officially published it in March of 2015 and have been blogging ever since! When I first got started, my blog primarily consisted of health, food, lifestyle, and photography content, as this was my intent for the site. After applying to PT school, I decided I wanted to include details all about my PT journey so I could help and inform others with the same aspirations. Blogging has had a tremendous impact on my life and I am incredibly grateful for it!
What platform do you use for your blog?
Squarespace! It has a variety of stunning templates and endless options to make your blog special and unique to your vision. I do pay an annual fee for my blog to have my personalized domain. Squarespace is a very user-friendly platform and I was able to figure out pretty much everything on my own without a great deal of outside help. However, the customer service crew is stellar and is always ready via email or even by phone to answer any questions you may have about creating, formatting, or editing your blog. Their help page also includes guides, videos, and community forums that answer a wide array of potential questions.
I want to start a blog! Do you have any helpful advice for me?
Keep it fun and authentic! A blog should be a creative outlet where you can share what you love without it feeling like a chore. Like I did, take some time to make your vision come to life and polish off your initial content before making it live to the public. Every platform is different, so use this time to get comfortable working with templates, page design, adding content, using HTML and CSS codes, etc. Please feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions about the process or would like additional tips.
What kind of camera and equipment do you use?
I shoot with a Nikon D7000. I have a variety of different lenses, but my go-to’s are either the 50 mm f/1.8, 18-105 mm f/3-5-5.6 (kit lens), or 70-200 mm f/2.8. I use my iPhone 13 Pro for most of my Instagram photos.
What do you use to edit your photos?
Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and the basic editing tools within the MacBook/iPhone photos app.
Can I use your image(s) on my social media?
All of the content and photography on this website is my own (unless otherwise specified) and is copyrighted material. You are more than welcome to share a photograph online if I am credited and it is properly back-linked to my appropriate handle (i.e. @breanna_spain on Instagram) or the URL from my blog using a do-follow link.
Do you have any tips/advice about applying to PT school?
Yes, I have tons! If you have not already read this blog post, I recommend you give it a read. It has a lot of great information, tips and tricks, and personal insight that will help guide you throughout the application process. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me!
How do I obtain a PDF of your notes/drawings?
PDF versions of my notes/drawings can be purchased here. This page is dedicated to providing you with notes, drawings, and any additional resources I’ve created with direct download links. After purchasing a PDF, it will be available for download directly from the confirmation page on this blog and in an email sent to the provided email address. Can I write a guest post for your blog?
If your brand or content aligns with my audience and blog, then I would be more than happy to feature a guest post by you! Please feel free to email me if you have an idea in mind or would like to discuss any submission, advertising, or additional collaboration opportunities.
